Prowler Proof (and more importantly...Toddler Proof) Sliding Glass Door Locks

We have an upper and lower level deck off of the house, and both have sliding glass doors. My son was quick to figure out how to open and close the doors, and the extra "night time lock" didn't do squat. He was in and out of the house all day long...not fun. For a little while, the whole wooden dowel down at the bottom of the door worked, until he picked up the curtain and saw what was blocking his way! Then it became a weapon, baton, you name it. Plus, he would leave the door open and little sister could easily topple out the door (never happened, thank goodness!) so we couldn't ever relax!

I knew there had to be something better out there, so I marched up to Home Depot, searched high and low, and then I found these little $2.99 life savers!

They are basically clear acrylic flaps that you stick to the stationary part of your sliding glass door (we put them up top, out of the kids reach), and when the lever is lifted up, when you try to slide open the door, it won't budge! You can easily flip it down and go about your merry way when you don't need the lock in place. The directions were easy, all you do is clean the area with rubbing alcohol, let it dry, and then stick that bad boy right on there. We have never had any issues with the adhesive becoming weak.

*The only negative is that we have to slightly lift/pull out the door to get it to go over top of the plastic, when trying to open the door. It's just a hair too thick for the door to slide effortlessly over when trying to open it up.

For that, I give the product a 9 out of 10...they have been a life and sanity saver. I love it when the little things make all the difference in the world!

The days of manning the door while Daddy grills are over! You should be able to find them at Home Depot or Lowes...unfortunately they don't have an online vendor. I may have to take a trip to Walgreens to see if they have them since everyone talks about finding their little gadgets over there!

We added some moulding and painted them this year, which made them prettier for sure. But you know, they're still junk, and they don't work well.plano tx locksmith
